REQUEST FOR SUBMISSIONS

CMCA’s calls to artists are a way for curatorial staff to broaden the scope of an already conceived thematic exhibition.  Often, a curator will already have certain artists in mind, and would like to learn of any additional artists whose work might be appropriate for the exhibition.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

To submit to a call to artists without a specific entry form, please prepare the following items:

1. A CD of images.
   
   Images should be in .jpeg or .tiff format at a medium-high resolution, with the widest dimension not to exceed 1800 pixels. (This prints at approximately 5 inches at 360 dpi.) Please do not send images that exceed 2MB.  
   
   If at all possible, please name the image files with your last name, the title of the piece (or an abbreviation of the title), and the entry number corresponding with the list of works.  (For example: Jones_Title_1.jpg) Be sure to label the outside of the CD with your full name.
   
   For video and film, artists should submit a DVD. For installation and performance pieces, please submit a single-page proposal, which may be supplemented by either digital images or video.
   
   
2. A numbered list of works that corresponds to the submitted images detailing: title (or view), date, medium (please be as specific as possible), dimensions (h x w x d).
   
   
3. A current résumé. (Make sure to include your contact information, with name, mailing address, email, and phone number.)
   
   
4. An artist’s statement or description of the work/project and its relation to the theme.
   
   
5. Any additional materials or forms as specified.

with the title of the show clearly marked on the envelope:

Note that these materials will not be returned to you. 
CMCA curatorial staff will attempt to reply to all calls to artists within 4 weeks of the postmark deadline.
